On Monday, Macau’s tourism authorities displayed strong confidence in hotel occupancy rates exceeding 90% during the upcoming Macau Grand Prix event.

Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, head of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), underscored the city’s recent positive hotel booking trend in a report by public service broadcaster TDM.

She highlighted that advertisements featuring the iconic motor-racing event and the appeal of Macau have been placed on Cathay Pacific flights to and from Hong Kong, with the aim of luring travelers from Hong Kong to visit Macau.

In celebration of the 70th edition of the flagship event, the 2023 Macau Grand Prix will be a special two-weekend affair, scheduled for November 11-12 and November 16-19.

According to the official statistical data, Macau’s hotel occupancy rate in the first three quarters of the year reached 84 percent with an average price of MOP1301.4 ($72) per night, up 79.1 percent from last year.

The city’s five-star hotel occupancy rate in the months to September was above the average level, reaching 84.5 percent.
