Macau gaming operator Sands China has announced the achievement of the ISO 14001:2015 certification for its Environmental Management System, as part of the company’s continuous efforts to improve best practices and meet international standards throughout its operations.
ISO certifications are awarded by the London-based British Standards Institution (BSI) Group, the world’s largest national standards and certification body. BSI audits and provides certification to companies worldwide that implement and comply with its management systems standards. The awarding of ISO 14001 certification ensures that an organization’s environmental management system (EMS) effectively and consistently identifies, manages, monitors, and holistically controls environmental issues.
As the most widely recognized and adopted EMS standard in the world, ISO 14001 benefits a company’s operations by:
- Providing an effective framework for managing overall environmental performance and compliance;
- Promoting predictability and consistency in managing environmental obligations;
- Demonstrating environmental stewardship towards stakeholders and investors.
In addition to environmental management, Sands China holds ISO certifications for its effective management of:
- Food safety (ISO22000:2018);
- Facilities and Conventions and Exhibitions (ISO9001:2015);
- Information Security (ISO27001:2013);
- Event Sustainability (ISO20121:2012); and
- Occupational Health and Safety (ISO45001:2018).
