Macau’s Judiciary Police have arrested six mainland Chinese suspects over an alleged proxy betting operation that livestreamed slot-machine games from a Cotai casino to gamblers in mainland China.
The group allegedly entered the casino early on August 22nd and concealed a mobile phone inside a shoebox placed in a modified shopping bag. A small opening allowed the phone to film the slot-machine screen while the group received remote betting instructions.
Police said the suspects had separate roles, including supplying equipment and gambling funds, operating the livestream, adjusting the camera angle and acting as lookouts. A casino membership card was also allegedly used to accumulate points.
Officers seized seven mobile phones, HK$23,000 ($2,950) in cash and slot-machine vouchers worth HK$67,975 ($8,700).
One suspect had allegedly participated in at least five similar operations since 2025, earning RMB1,500 ($210).
The six are suspected of illegally operating online games of chance. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecutions Office.
The arrests follow a similar case last week, when police detained a mainland man accused of livestreaming slot-machine play from two Cotai casinos to gamblers in mainland China.
