Macau Polytechnic University to offer new Bachelor of Business Administration in Gaming

The Macau Polytechnic University will offer a new Bachelor of Business Administration in Gaming and Recreation Management, according to education authorities in the SAR.

The Macao Polytechnic Institute was officially converted into Macao Polytechnic University on March 1, 2022 with the institution’s higher education schools converted into faculties.

A recent dispatch by the Education and Youth Development Bureau informs the new pedagogical organization and study plan for the degree will start applying to students who start attending the course in the academic year 2023/2024 degree.

The Bachelor degree will be taught in Chinese and English and last for four years. Some of the majors to be included will cover ‘Introduction to the Gambling Industry’, ‘Casino Table Games’, ‘Gaming Math’, ‘Gaming Technology’,’Slot Management’, ‘Gaming Law’, and other management and gaming-related classes.

‘The programme combines theories with local knowledge and industry experience, the objective being to prepare high-quality management personnel for Macau’s gaming industry. Integrating theories and practice, the learning modules are effective in assisting upward mobility for gaming professionals, as well as helping those who would like to join the gaming industry build a solid foundation in theories and practical skills,’ the university indicated on its website.

Students must also complete an internship lasting 400 hours.

In 2010/2011 the MPU Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies of Macao Polytechnic University launched a Bachelor of Social Science in Gaming and Recreation Management, later renamed as the Bachelor of Business Administration in Gaming and Recreation Management in 2016/2017.

 A new programme, a Master of Business administration in Gaming Management also started running in 2019/2020.
