Ted Chan replaces Robert Drake as Galaxy CFO, effective March 1st

Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has announced that Robert Drake will be stepping down from his role as CFO of the company on March 1st, to be replaced by the COO of the group’s Japan Development division Ted Chan.

The group notes that Drake’s departure is to ‘pursue his personal interests’.

Drake had worked with GEG for over 15 years, most recently helping the group navigate the COVID pandemic and help it secure its 10-year gaming concession.

Ted Chan initially joined GEG in 2018, as COO of the Japan Development arm, having previously served as the COO of Melco, before resigning in 2016 for ‘personal reasons’.

Chan had also previously worked at a wing of the Amax group, which operated VIP services and previously ran the Greek Mythology casino in the now-defunct Beijing Imperial Palace hotel, previously known as New Century.

Robert Drake will move into a role as a Senior Advisor to the company, with the company’s Vice Chairman, Francis Lui, noting that “I […] look forward to continuing our relationship with Bob”.

Regarding Chan’s promotion, Lui notes that “the unique combination of Ted’s wealth of local integrated resort knowledge combined with his over two decades of management experience and familiarity with GEG makes him ideally suited for the role”.
