Casino Rio, a satellite casino under Galaxy Entertainment Group, has been accused of using pressure tactics to coerce a group of employees to resign in order to avoid severance pay.

Cloee Chao, president of the New Macau Gaming Staff Rights Association told press that the tactic involved relocating employees without notice from the surveillance department at Casino Rio to Star World and Galaxy Hotel without any proper training to acclimate them to new working procedures.

Out of the 12 employees, 11 have already resigned.

Chao said the move was “unacceptable,” and has delivered a petition letter to the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) urging them to address the problem.

Chao expressed concern that other satellite casinos in Macau may consider doing the same as license renewals come closer.
