New flights linking Macau to Danang, Manila and Chiang Mai are set to commence in March due to rising travel demand.

This comes after Macau’s flag carrier, Air Macau, saw passenger levels of between 31 percent and 81 percent on flights to Tokyo, Hanoi, Seoul, Bangkok and Taipei between January and early February.

The five destinations will see their flight frequencies increase next month, as well as flights to Osaka and Khaosiung.

The most popular outbound destination from the gaming hub so far has been Bangkok.

During the Chinese New Year holiday, the Macau International Airport welcomed over 76,000 visitors, some 31 percent of pre-pandemic levels.

Amongst the other carriers opening up routes is low-cost carrier AirAsia, with the first flight linking Macau to Kuala Lumpur landing on Tuesday.
