SJM Resorts donates MOP 300,000 to Macau Holy House of Mercy

SJM Resorts has announced the donation of MOP 300,000 to the Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop, marking 14 consecutive years of support for its “Food Hamper” programme and bringing festive care to underprivileged families.

On 7 March, members of the SJM Volunteer Team visited the Welfare Shop to assist in distributing food hampers and red packets to more than 370 beneficiary households. Through hands‑on participation, the team helped share seasonal warmth while demonstrating SJM’s continued dedication to community service and social inclusion.

At a donation ceremony held earlier, Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, presented the donation cheque on behalf of the Company, which was received by Mr. António José de Freitas, President of the Board of Trustees of SCMM. Other distinguished guests in attendance included Ms. Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of the Staff Welfare Consultative Committee; as well as representatives of beneficiary organisations—Ms. Ho Sut Heng, Chief Supervisor of the Macau Federation of Trade Unions; Mr. Chan Ka Leong, Director-General of the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau; and Ms. Gisela Nunes, Secretary-General of SCMM.

Ms. Daisy Ho remarked, “SJM Resorts has been privileged to work closely with SCMM over the years to support families in need through sustained donations and active volunteer engagement. This year, our volunteer team once again took part in the food hamper distribution, sharing festive joy with beneficiary households and strengthening the spirit of mutual support within the community. We are sincerely grateful to SCMM for its dedicated coordination and to our volunteers for their unwavering commitment. Looking ahead, SJM will continue to deepen partnerships with local social service organisations and contribute to a more inclusive and harmonious Macau.”

SJM Resorts and SCMM have maintained a strong and enduring partnership. In addition to the “Food Hamper” programme, the two organisations co‑launched the “My ElderFriend Programme” companionship initiative for residents of the Elderly Home of Our Lady of Mercy, which was expanded last year to include bedridden and weaker residents. Through regular visits and engagement activities, the programme supports the physical and emotional well‑being of elderly participants while fostering greater community connection. Since its launch in 2024, the initiative has served close to 500 participants.
