China’s 5-day Labor Day Golden Week concluded on Sunday, with a total of 604,395 tourists reported to have visited the Macau SAR, data published by the city’s Public Security Police shows.
Border crossings across the city’s checkpoints tallied up to 2,989,446, with the daily average visitation being 120,879, slightly below the authorities’ goal of 130,000. May 3 saw the highest influx of visitors during this period, with 154,006 arrivals.
Compared to the 2019 Labour Day Golden Week, this year’s five-day figure reached 84 percent of the total recorded during the same period.
This year’s holiday period saw considerable rainfall and even flooding in some areas of Zhuhai and Macau, which is believed to have impacted the final visitor count.
