Esports is high up in betting trends, according to Softswiss

The company released a number of statistics as part of the third anniversary of their Sportsbook product, and while the top three betting sports are relatively unsurprising, it is interesting to note that right after Football, Tennis and Basketball, Esports now take up fourth place. The activity has been steadily climbing up the ranks from 7th position in 2021, with Counter Strike standing out as claiming the 6th position in the top ten of disciplines when measured by the number of bets taken.

The Softswiss Sportsbook team also revealed that the trend towards mobile betting is still continuing, stating that 80 percent of all bets were placed on smartphones compared to 70 percent in 2022 and 68 percent in 2021. The likely most interesting statistic was listed right at the end of the press release, stating that mobile devices contributed a staggering 92 percent to the operators’ GGR. This might be related to the increased focus on combo bets by the company, with the share increasing from 20 percent in 2021 to 45 percent in 2023.
