Cambodia’s gaming regulator is preparing nationwide casino inspections and evaluations as part of efforts to strengthen oversight of the country’s commercial gambling sector.
The Commercial Gambling Management Commission of Cambodia (CGMC) said in an official Facebook update published on July 20th that officials reviewed preparations for the evaluations alongside the regulator’s priorities for the second half of 2026.
The meeting, chaired by CGMC Secretary General Yeth Vinel, also covered preparations for the regulator’s 2027–2030 strategic plan and vision. The CGMC did not disclose when the nationwide evaluations would begin, how many casinos would be covered or what assessment criteria would be applied.
The latest review follows an earlier stage of the initiative. In a separate official Facebook update published earlier this month, the CGMC said officials had examined the final draft of a casino inspection and assessment project, as well as measures to strengthen the administration of licenses for gaming professionals.
CGMC chairman Aun Pornmoniroth called in June for government departments to conduct comprehensive inspections of casinos to verify their licensing status, according to the Khmer Times. He also warned that operators involved in online fraud or other illegal activities could have their licenses revoked.
