The Star Entertainment Group said Adam Bell SC, who found Crown Resorts to be unsuitable to hold a license in Sydney, will carry out the next regular review of The Star Sydney.

Bell will provide his report to the New South Wales regulator by late January 2022.

This is a regulator review required under the Casino Control Act. However, Australia’s casinos are under increased scrutiny after a series of inquiries into Crown Resorts business practices. The Bergin Inquiry in New South Wales found Crown to be unsuitable to hold a license for its Barangaroo property. A separate probe in Victoria recommended the company be stripped of its license for its flagship in Melbourne.

Star’s prior regular review was carried out by Dr Horton QC and was completed in 2016.

The Star said it will fully co-operate with the review and any requests for information and documents.
