Melco Resorts & Entertainment prioritizes the needs of its local communities and is committed to making a positive impact through its recognized Simple Acts of Kindness colleague volunteerism initiative. In cooperation with Peng On Tung Tele-assistance Service Centre of Macau (Peng On Tung), Melco recently mobilized a 1,000-strong volunteer team to visit approximately 550 elderlies in Macau between November 29 to December 13.

Melco initiated the long-term collaboration with Peng On Tung to have volunteers visit elderly households and assist with greeting calls from the NGO’s headquarters. Since May 2020, nearly 2,800 Melco volunteer participants have been deployed, dedicating nearly 6,800 hours to Peng On Tung elderlies. Often remaining indoors due to pandemic-related safety measures, the elderly beneficiaries have been excited to meet and chat with Melco’s volunteers who have been bringing gift bags and necessity kits together with warm seasonal greetings.

Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Melco Chairman & CEO, said, “Melco is honored by our colleagues’ dedication to volunteering which helps to enhance the quality of life for the local community. Colleague commitment was especially evident when we were faced with the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Seeing people in need, our colleague volunteers rolled up their sleeves as part of Melco’s Simple Acts of Kindness initiative, to offer help in any way they could. As always, we are grateful for the support from our local NGO partners. Melco will continue to extend our strongest support towards local communities through volunteerism and colleague engagement activities.”

Pun Ka Lon, Acting Manager of Peng On Tung Tele-assistance Service Centre of Macau, said, “On behalf of Peng On Tung, I wish to thank Melco’s volunteers for their continued support and participation. We are grateful for Melco’s 1000-strong volunteer team visit this year – showing care to around 550 Peng On Tung elderlies. Finally, we are thankful for Melco’s generous contributions to our cause, and for their proactive organization and promotion of volunteerism activities, which greatly helps strengthen connections between elderlies and the community’s social care network.”
