Asia Gaming eBrief: Evolution report flags prohibited market access

Compliance questions always return to the table. A confidential compliance report commissioned by Evolution from Spectrum Gaming Group in 2021 found that its products could be accessed through downstream operators in prohibited Asian markets and faulted the supplier’s controls, according to the Financial Times. Evolution rejects the underlying allegations, while Playtech says the report supports key parts of the original investigation. Hokkaido’s business community, meanwhile, is asking the Governor to begin preparing a possible casino resort bid, warning that Japan’s two remaining IR slots may offer the prefecture its final opportunity.
