Wynn showcased Macao as a vibrant cultural and business destination at the Macao Government Tourism Office’s (MGTO) “Experience Macao Roadshow in Madrid,” running April 17–21 at Puente del Rey, with a multi‑channel presence spanning both online and offline platforms.

The initiative aimed to showcase Macao’s dynamic “tourism +” offerings, attract more European visitors to the city, and help develop international tourist markets.

Wynn enriched the “Experience Macao” roadshow in Madrid with cultural showcases, including Jingdezhen porcelain plates and Xiushui fried tofu, highlighting China’s craftsmanship and Jiangxi’s authentic flavors. Through these efforts, Wynn aimed to present Macao’s integrated appeal across culture, dining, MICE, art, and premium events, while inspiring European travelers to embark on deeper cultural journeys in the city.

Play’n GO releases new Sustainability Report, celebrating 20 years of responsible innovation

Play’n GO has released its new Sustainability Report, reflecting a milestone 20th anniversary year and the company’s ongoing drive to elevate responsibility and innovation throughout the global gaming landscape.

The report details Play’n GO’s progress and performance across its four sustainability pillars – Players, Partners, People and Planet – reinforcing the company’s long‑standing belief that sustainable growth and responsible business are inseparable.

2025 marked Play’n GO’s most advanced year of sustainability performance to date, driven by continued innovation, data integrity, and governance maturity across the business. The report highlights major progress in climate action, responsible game design, people development, and purpose‑driven partnerships, while maintaining a strong focus on regulated markets and transparency.

“We have always believed that great entertainment should be fun, safe and fair,” said Vanessa Björkbacka, Director of CSR at Play’n GO. “This report reflects two decades of learning, evolution and commitment to doing things the right way. Sustainability is not a separate initiative for us – it is embedded into how we design our games, how we work with partners, and how we build the business for the long term.”

Play’n GO’s continued leadership in climate action

Among the report’s key highlights is the fact that the company has already achieved and exceeded its long‑term 90 percent reduction target for Scope 1 and 2 emissions, reaching this milestone 15 years ahead of The Climate Pledge and 25 years ahead of the Paris Agreement’s 2050 target. Play’n GO also achieved a 69 percent absolute reduction in Scope 3 emissions against its 2023 base year, with total material emissions for 2025 kept below 500 MTCO2e.

Play’n GO’s growing role in shaping responsible entertainment

The report also sets out that in 2025, the company launched its first land‑based gaming solution in partnership with Genting UK, extending its player‑first, low‑footprint approach into regulated land‑based environments. The solution helps operators reduce energy use, hardware requirements and electronic waste, demonstrating how innovation can simultaneously enhance player experience and environmental performance.

Player wellbeing remains central to Play’n GO’s sustainability strategy

The company continues to reject game mechanics it believes compromise player trust or wellbeing, maintaining a player‑first design philosophy focused on balanced game mathematics, transparency, and long‑term engagement. During the year, Play’n GO also contributed to global conversations on digital wellbeing and cognitive health, including participation at the United Nations and G7, reflecting the increasing importance of responsible digital entertainment.

The People pillar of the report highlights continued investment in building a connected, future‑ready organisation. In 2025, 43 percent of employees engaged in AI‑related learning, while average training time exceeded seven hours per employee globally. Play’n GO further strengthened leadership development, wellbeing initiatives, and community contribution, including rapidly growing participation in volunteer time‑off programmes.

Strong governance and data integrity underpin the entire report. During the year, Play’n GO further aligned its reporting with global frameworks such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals and World Economic Forum Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics, while investing in secure, AI‑supported carbon data management to ensure high‑quality, future‑ready reporting for partners and stakeholders.

“As expectations on transparency and accountability continue to rise, we see it as our responsibility to lead,” Björkbacka added. “Our partners, regulators and players all benefit when sustainability data is credible, measurable and meaningful. This report is about equipping them – and ourselves – with information that supports better decision‑making.”

The 2025 Sustainability Report reinforces Play’n GO’s commitment to operating in regulated markets and contributing to a more sustainable, responsible global entertainment industry.

Macau denies entry to 2,500 mainland Chinese over alleged transit scheme abuse

0

Macau authorities have denied entry to more than 2,500 mainland Chinese passport holders between January and April 20th, 2026, citing suspected abuse of the city’s transit entry arrangement, according to the Public Security Police Force.

The individuals were refused entry for failing to present valid onward travel documents, not proceeding to a third country as required under transit rules, or making frequent entries and exits to circumvent Macau’s stay regulations, police said.

Under existing rules, mainland Chinese residents typically enter Macau using the Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau, with Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) endorsements allowing stays of up to seven days. These endorsements are generally subject to application intervals of two to three months. However, travelers holding Chinese passports with confirmed onward tickets to a third destination may enter Macau in transit and stay for up to seven days.

Authorities said some individuals have exploited this arrangement by entering Macau under the pretext of transit without completing onward travel, effectively bypassing restrictions on visit frequency. In response, Macau has tightened enforcement measures, including reducing permitted stay durations for repeat offenders and denying entry after multiple violations.

Police said they have maintained close coordination with mainland authorities to combat disruptions to border control order and misuse of the transit system. They also warned against online content promoting methods to evade immigration rules, urging travelers to verify such information carefully.

With the upcoming May Day holiday period, authorities said additional measures have been deployed to ensure smooth border operations, including joint inspections at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge checkpoint and enhanced monitoring of cross-border vehicles suspected of transporting individuals attempting to misuse transit rules.

MGM Resorts completes $546M sale of MGM Northfield Park operations

0

MGM Resorts International has completed the sale of the operations of MGM Northfield Park to private equity funds managed by Clairvest Group Inc. for $546 million in cash, the company said April 21st.

The transaction marks the divestment of a regional asset as the company continues to refine its portfolio. Following the closing, MGM Resorts amended its master lease agreement with VICI Properties Inc., resulting in a reduction of approximately $53 million in annual rent.

MGM Resorts said it expects net cash proceeds of around $420 million after taxes and transaction-related costs. The company indicated that proceeds will be used in line with its capital allocation priorities, including balance sheet management, investment in growth opportunities, and potential returns to shareholders.

For the year ended December 31st, 2025, MGM Northfield Park generated approximately $142 million in Adjusted EBITDAR, according to the company.

In a statement, MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle praised the property’s ‘talented team,’ while CFO Jonathan Halkyard noted the sale allowed the company to monetize a ‘non-strategic regional asset’ at a high valuation compared to the rest of their portfolio.

The sale comes as MGM Resorts continues to focus on its core operations and long-term development strategy, including investments in key markets and international expansion initiatives.

Cost easing unlikely to lift Macau margins: Seaport

Seaport Research expects Macau’s casino sector to face ongoing margin pressure despite easing cost growth in 2026, as elevated reinvestment and commissions persist. While expenses may rise more slowly, profitability improvements are limited. After strong first-quarter growth, the market is likely to slow, leading operators to emphasize cost efficiency, reinvestment optimization, and competitive positioning.
