GKL sees casino net sales up 50% in 2023, visitor volume doubles

Casino net sales at Grand Korea Leisure Co Ltd (GKL), an operator of foreigner-only casinos in South Korea, rose by 49.8 percent year-on-year in 2023, reaching KRW397.4 billion ($298 million).

The visitor volume recorded at the group’s properties increased by 93.1 percent to 789,825 in 2023, according to an annual report released on the official website.

The company reported a significant increase of 78.6 percent in casino drop, reaching KRW3.4 trillion ($2.55 billion) in 2023.

GKL recorded an operating profit of KRW51 billion for the whole year of 2023, compared to an operating loss of nearly KRW13.9 billion in the prior year.

The company also recommended a final dividend of KRW353 ($0.26) per share for the year ended December 31, 2023. This represents a dividend ratio of 2.61 percent based on the present market price of the company’s stock. The FY23 dividend payout ratio reached 50.04 percent.

The total dividend for the full year 2023 amounts to approximately KRW43.6 billion ($33 million), marking the first dividend payout since 2019, the company stated in its annual report.”
