Alliance Global Group Inc (AGI), led by tycoon Andrew Tan, is set to invest approximately $300 million in developing a new integrated resort in the Visayas.
While details are still being finalized, Tan indicated that the casino component will be relatively small.
“It will be a boutique casino. We don’t want a massive structure in Boracay. We aim for the right size to complement the island’s scale. We’re also focusing on a more sustainable design to fit the island’s natural environment,” he said.
Boracay World Resorts is one of two projects being undertaken by AGI’s leisure and tourism arm, Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., outside Metro Manila.
“Situated in Boracay, the country’s top tourist spot and ranked the world’s best beach by Condé Nast Traveler, Boracay World Resorts will enhance the island’s global allure,” Tan said.
“Our group owns a 150-hectare township called Boracay Newcoast, featuring an 18-hole golf course, a one-kilometer private beach, and nearly 2,000 hotel rooms. Travellers International is also building an integrated resort with villas and hotel suites. This will position Boracay World Resorts among the elite destinations, blending the island’s natural beauty with the sophistication of a modern resort,” he added.
In addition to Boracay World Resorts, Travellers is investing around $400 million in a new integrated resort in Cebu, called Mactan World Resorts.
The project is slated to commence commercial operations by the end of 2026.
Tan stated that Mactan World Resorts will feature a state-of-the-art hotel, resort, and casino.
Once operational, the development is expected to create over 5,000 new jobs for residents of Lapu-Lapu City and neighboring areas.
“The Mactan World Resort will be the latest integrated resort in our Cebu township, located just 20 minutes from Mactan Cebu International Airport, the country’s second-busiest gateway,” Tan noted.
Travellers International operates Newport World Resorts, the Philippines’ first integrated resort and a comprehensive entertainment destination.
