Philippines senator, Sherwin Gatchalian, has maintained that all procedures were observed involving the 318-hectare reclamation project of Waterfront Manila Premier Development Inc. and that he was not involved in the development, Philstar Global has reported.
Gatchalian was responding to questions concerning the involvement of family relatives in the P34.3-billion ($620 million) reclamation project by the Gatchalians’ Waterfront Manila Premier Development Inc. aims to build residential and commercial buildings, anchored on a casino entertainment complex.
“I don’t deny that father is connected to the project. I know for a fact that reclamation projects here behind the Sofitel Philippine Plaza… all went through the process,” Gatchalian added during the Kapihan sa Manila Bay Forum last week. “I don’t deny that (it’s) my dad’s project, but I don’t meddle with the business.”
The senator also countered concerns raised by the US embassy in the country over the involvement of China Communications Construction Co. (CCCC), a firm blacklisted by the United States in 2020, in the land reclamation project
