Saipan suspends issuance of junket licenses

The CNMI gaming regulator has suspended the issuance and renewal of licenses for junket activity on the island.

As of 2019, the number of IPI junket operators went from nine to three. The three remaining will be given a choice to surrender their licenses due to the present lack of gaming activity.

Last November, the regulators noted China’s blacklist on countries found targeting its citizens for overseas gambling could have “very serious implications not only on casino gambling here but on the tourism industry in general.”
