Macau’s average hotel occupancy rose by 50.2 percentage points year-on-year n May to 62 percent, with 3-star and 4-star properties outperforming the luxury sector.
According to the Statistics and Census Service, 3-star hotels enjoyed 70.7 percent occupancy, with 4-star at 67.5 percent.
The number of guests checked into hotels & guesthouses leapt by 552.3 percent year-on-year to 760,000 in May, with those from mainland China rising by 816.4 percent and local guests by 112.3 percent.
Meanwhile, the average length of stay of guests shortened by 0.4 night year-on-year to 1.6 nights.
May figures were boosted by the five-day Golden Week holiday. Visitor numbers have slipped in June due to renewed travel restrictions due to outbreaks in Guangdong province.
