The figure, however, was a 51.4 percentage point rise compared to November of 2022 – the period before Macau began to fully open up again to visitation.

Three-star hotels saw no monthly change in the occupancy rate – steady at 94.6.

Meanwhile, four-star hotels saw a 3.3 percentage point increase in occupancy in November, reaching 82.5 percent.

Five-star hotels, typically strong performers in the holiday periods, saw a minute increase in occupancy, rising to 88.6 percent.

The figures come as Macau saw some 2.58 million visitors in November, a 6.3 percent drop from October. During the month the duration of stay of overnight visitors fell to 2.2 days.

December is likely to record strong visitation and hotel occupancy figures, with the Christmas holiday period seeing an average of 114,000 visitor entries daily – with over 456,000 during the holiday period (from December 23rd to 26th).

Preliminary figures indicate that, during the period, the average hotel occupancy rate reached 90.8 percent, a slight rise from the November average.

Average hotel occupancy during the first 11 months of the year was 84.7 percent.
