Macau’s hotel occupancy rate reached 89 percent in June

Macau’s average hotel occupancy rate reached 89 percent in June, up by 54.5 percentage points yearly.

Official data show that the occupancy rate of three-star hotels was over 96 percent, while five-star hotels reached 89.1 percent.

According to the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the average daily rate for a five-star hotel room in Macau was MOP1,491.3 ($186) in June. That was 102 percent higher than MOP737.9-rate ($92) in June last year. 

The general average room rate for Macau’s three- to five-star category was MOP1,305.4 ($163) in June, up 118.6 percent from the prior-year period. 

In 1H23, Macau welcomed over 11.64 million tourists, which amounts to a daily average of more than 64,000. 

The average hotel occupancy rate from January to June was 82 percent, only 8.8 percentage points below the 90.8 percent registered in the same period of 2019.
