Macau’s visitor arrivals rose by 2.4 percent year-on-year to 3.54 million in July, but the increase was driven entirely by same-day traffic, while the number of overnight visitors declined.
Same-day arrivals increased by 6.4 percent to 2.11 million, while overnight arrivals fell by 2.9 percent to 1.43 million, according to data released Friday by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
The average length of stay shortened by 0.1 day to 1.1 days. Overnight visitors stayed for an average of 2.4 days, unchanged from a year earlier.
The divergence extended a trend seen during the first seven months of the year. Same-day arrivals jumped by 13.9 percent to nearly 15 million between January and July, while overnight arrivals edged down by 0.3 percent to 9.49 million.

Mainland China remained the principal source market in July, with arrivals rising by 5.4 percent to 2.70 million. Visitors traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme increased by 9.6 percent to 1.49 million.
Arrivals from China’s Taiwan region grew by 13.9 percent to 104,833, while visitors from Hong Kong dropped by 10.2 percent to 561,713.

International arrivals fall
International visitor arrivals declined by 1.9 percent year-on-year to 174,469 in July, confirming weaker summer demand from several of Macau’s targeted overseas markets.
Arrivals from the Philippines fell by 13.3 percent to 32,865, while South Korean visitors dropped by 14.7 percent to 27,531. Visitors from Thailand decreased by 2.2 percent to 12,081.

India was a notable exception, with arrivals surging by 66.4 percent to 10,261. Visitors from the United States increased by 0.4 percent to 15,859.
Macau received 24.49 million visitors during the first seven months of 2026, up by 8.0 percent year-on-year. International arrivals increased by 5 percent to 1.60 million over the period.
