Macau Q1 visitor spending jumps 23.5 percent

Macau Q1 visitor spending jumped 23.5 percent year-on-year to MOP6.18 billion, fuelled by shopping and food and drink.

According to the Census and Statistics Service, total spending of overnight visitors rose by 48 percent, while that of same-day visitors dropped 52.1 percent.

The government attributed the gain to an accumulation of consumption capacity following the lockdowns. The figures exclude gambling spend.
