Macau government projects $26.8 billion in GGR for 2024

In the 2024 fiscal year budget proposal released on Wednesday, the Macau government anticipates that the city’s casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) for 2024 will amount to MOP216 billion ($26.8 billion).

‘As Macau introduces more new tourism elements and further expands its domestic and international customer base, it is expected that the number of visitors to Macau will continue to rise. Based on this, it is estimated that the casino gross gaming revenue for the fiscal year 2024 will be MOP216 billion,’ it wrote in a justification note.

The government also notes that the projection will serve as the ‘primary financial revenue basis for the Macau government’s budget for the fiscal year 2024.’

In the city’s Chief Executive 2023 policy address last November, the Macau government estimated 2023 gross gaming revenue at MOP130 billion ($16.25 billion). As of October, Macau’s GGR had already surpassed the government’s goal.
