Prosecutors are seeking a five year prison sentence for former lawmaker Tsukasa Akimoto on charges of receiving bribes from agents of 500 .com and attempting to induce witnesses to perjure themselves.

Public prosecutors told the Tokyo District Court that his acts had significantly damaged public trust in resort projects.

They have also asked for him to receive a JPY7.6 million (US$69,000) fine.
