HK police arrest 23 in multi-million dollar gambling bust

Hong Kong police have arrested 23 people in a bust on a triad-controlled bookmaking syndicate that took in more than 3.4 yuan ($438 million) in illegal bets on horse racing and football in the first four months of this year.

The South China Morning Post cited a police insider as saying he believed it was the largest amount of illegal betting records seized in one raid in more than a decade.
