Affiliate giant Better Collective has received approval from the shareholders of Playmaker Capital for its proposed EU176 million ($191.7 million) acquisition of the business.
The deal is set to strengthen the firm’s foothold in the USA and Canada and will likely enable it to claim market leader status in South America.
Shareholders agreed to the acquisition, one that has been in the works for some time, at an Extraordinary General Meeting held on January 22nd, where 99.9 percent voted in favor of the purchase.
Playmaker Capital is a Canadian digital sports media company active in the fields of sports, betting, media and technology. It owns brands that include Yardbarker and The Nation Network, as well as affiliate marketing firm Wedge.
The acquisition still has to be approved by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the minister of Canadian heritage, and other closing conditions have to be met. If all goes well, the transaction could be completed in February of this year.
