Australian gaming operator The Star has announced the appointment of a new group CEO and Managing Director, Steve McCann.
The appointment comes into effect on July 8th, being ‘subject to receipt of necessary regulatory approvals’.
The move also comes after the departure of the group’s Chairman, David Foster, with other top executives taking on additional duties as the group conducted its search for a new CEO and MD.
McCann draws from a strong gaming background, most recently serving as a Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Crown Resorts.
He had previously spent over a decade as group CEO of real estate and investment group Lendlease Corporation.
The Star Chairman Anne Ward noted “Following a comprehensive search process, the Board is very pleased to have secured a CEO of Steve’s caliber, experience and respect in the market. Given his time with Crown, and previous long-standing leadership at Lendlease, he has the right credentials to lead The Star’s remediation program”.
