New South Wales premier Gladys Berejiklian on Wednesday has announced the extension of the NSW lockdown to July 30, as the state reports 99 new cases in the last 24 hours.

The extended lockdown means that NSW will have been in lockdown for at least six weeks by the time it is set to end.

Sydney is home to Crown Sydney and The Star casino, and a vast amount of club and pub venues that offer slot machine play.

Meanwhile, a few cases of the delta strain have now made it over to neighboring Victoria, the home of Crown Melbourne, though a full lockdown is not yet on the cards.

Instead, it is expected that caps will be put on home visits, as well as mandatory mask rules.
