The Macau government has expanded the number of Mainland Chinese cities which will be subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine period for entry, including some zones of the border town of Zhuhai.

The measures came into force as of March 15th. The Macau Novel Coronavirus Response Center specified that anyone departing from the Huating Yungu Erdian Residential Complex of Tangjiawan Village of Gaoxin District in Zhuhai would be subject to quarantine.

The statement says that the medical observation period is for 14 days, with “a minimum period of 7 days.”

Residents from Mainland China have been the only visitors allowed into Macau without undergoing quarantine in a government-designated hotel since September 2020. However,  the authorities will reimpose stricter conditions subject to Covid situation in the local area, creating conditions for a slow and halting recovery for Macau’s gaming market.
