Singapore police have busted at least two illegal gambling operations in the past week, while across Asia authorities have moved to stamp out illicit activities, from raids on premier league matches in India, to illegal number forecasting in Malaysia.
China claims to have handled over 8,800 cross border gambling cases as of Sept. 30 and made over 60,000 arrests, including 590 Chinese nationals in other countries. It has shut down more than 1,700 online gambling platforms.
Australian's gambled more during the Covid-19 outbreak, despite a lack of access to venues, with the proportion who gambled four or more times a week increasing from 23 percent to 32 percent, according to the Australian Gambling Research Centre.
Imperial Pacific International says it has been and is being overcharged by the CNMI government when it is being made to pay a $3 million casino regulatory fee on top of the $15 million casino license fee. IPI, through counsel Michael W. Dotts, said the regulatory fee should have been included in the “already high” $15 million license fee.
