PhilWeb Corp is seeking approval to launch gaming ventures in countries including Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mongolia and Palau. The company is seeking to expand both its scatch-and-win lottery cards business and its “e-Games casinos”, internet cafes for playing casino games. The company is preparing to open its first overseas e-Games outlet in the East Timor capital of Dili. PhilWeb reported net income rose 20.3 percent last year to 1.1 billion pesos ($27 million) on revenue of 1.48 billion pesos, up 26.5 percent. It operates 277 e-Games cafes in the Philippines as well as lottery businesses in Timor, Cambodia and Guam.
