Macau gaming sector employment falls by 2,200 in 19Q3


The number of employees in the Gaming and Junket sector in Macau fell by 2,200 in the July to September quarter, down to 84,900, according to data from the Statistics and Census Service.

The gaming industry employs the most people out of any sector in Macau, making up 21.5 percent of the total labor force in Macau.

According to the data, median monthly employment earnings across all sectors increased to MOP 17,000, whilst median earnings of those engaging in Gaming & Junket Activities was MOP20,000.

The data also showed a slight increase in the unemployment rate, up 0.1 percent to 1.8 percent. DSEC said this was due to fresh graduates entering the labor market.
