Macau border crossing to open 24 hours from Dec 18

In a significant step the border crossing between Macau and Zhuhai will be open on a 24-hour basis from December 18, with the Lotus Bridge Cotai Frontier Post linked to Hengqin Island the first to benefit.
Macau government spokesman, Alexis Tan, said another key access point, the Border Gate linked to Gongbei will see the hours extended to open at 6 am and close at 1 am.
Also being made accessible will be late night crossings through the Cross Border Industrial Zone Border Checkpoint for Macau residents, non-residents and students between the hours of midnight and 7 am the next day.
The government spokesman’s office said the government’s goal had been to achieve 24-hour border crossing access at the Border Gate.
The easing of cross border movement comes as Macau will mark the 15th anniversary of Macau’s handover and an official visit by China’s President Xi Jinping in December.
