Only licensed bodies can handle refunds says Macau gaming bureau

Macau’s gaming bureau said in response to the Dore junket scandal that legitimate junket partners and management directors are duly investigated before being cleared for participation in gaming activities, local media reported.

In response to a Dore employee stealing several hundred million HK dollars from the junket, the Bureau said only licensed credit institutions are eligible to handle refunds to private parties, according to TDM Macau.

Both Dore and Wynn Macau, where the former operates, deny any involvement in the missing money.

TDM reported that lawmaker Pereira Coutinho criticized gaming legislation for not providing tools for proper supervision, arguing that loopholes allow junkets to handle large amounts of money without clear oversight.
