Sorte Estrela opens Macau VIP room, eyes casino hotel

Sorte Estrela held the grand opening of its VIP room in the Altira Macau casino on Tuesday and said it wants to eventually open its own casino resort.
The company is planning to open another two VIP rooms over the next two years and may seek a stock exchange listing within five years to finance the construction of a casino hotel, Executive Director Fabians Fong was cited by Macau Business Daily as saying.
Fong shrugged off the current downturn affecting the VIP sector in Macau as China continues its anti-corruption drive, saying the company’s clients come mainly from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Japan and Korea.
The VIP room has 10 gaming tables.
For its second opening, Sorte Estrela is considering the City of Dreams or on the Macau Peninsula, the report said
The ultimate goal of Sorte Estrela is to build its own integrated resort. Fong said Macau would be the first choice for a location, but if that proves impossible, it would consider other jurisdictions.
