Sands China said it is calling on all workers involved in the construction of The Parisian Macao to exercise restraint and act reasonably following a recent labour dispute between workers and the appointed construction manager and trade contractors of the project.
“The company will do everything it can to ensure the implementation and protection of the legitimate rights and interests of all workers by its construction manager and trade contractors,” Sands China said in a statement.
The statement follows a protest last week in which construction workers twice gathered in front of the Liaison Office to demand compensation for being fired by the construction company. About 60 Chinese workers, fired by Hsin Chong Engineering (Macau) from the Sands China’s Parisian casino resort project, sought help regarding dismissal compensation.
Sands China said it “understands that its construction manager and the concerned trade contractor have made clear that they are committed to keeping all arrangements in line with the labour laws of [Macau], and that they will ensure that the statutory compensation, legitimate rights and interests of the workers are being covered.”
