HKS Architects have been appointed to develop the concept and design of a planned multi-billion dollar project from Wynn Resorts in the United Arab Emirates.

The project is on the man-made Al Marjan Island and the U.S. operator is partnering with master developer, Marjan and RAK Hospitality.

HKS is the architect behind the newly opened NUSTAR Resort & Casino in the Philippines, as well as the Venetian Macau and a revamp of Resorts World Sentosa.

The flagship development of Marjan, Al Marjan Island is a man-made island that is being turned  into a world-class resort destination with five-star hotels and residential developments.

The resort’s current scope includes a luxury hotel of more than 1000 rooms, a high-end shopping esplanade, state-of-the-art meetings and convention facility, an exclusive spa, more than 10 dining experiences and lounges, a wide array of entertainment choices, gaming area, and other amenities.

“It is a huge honour to be part of a development that will have such an impact and create an array of opportunities that go far beyond the tourism sector,” said Master Planning & Design Principal of HKS Architects, Kevin Underwood. “We will bring our global expertise and wealth of experience in luxury hotels and resorts to design something truly unique, sustainable and befitting of this new era of tourism focused on quality and one-of-a-kind guest experiences,” he added.

Al Marjan Island is only 15 minutes from the Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and 45 minutes from the Dubai International Airport. It will be the first beach front resort for Wynn.
