IEM eSports tournament to make Australia debut

The Intel Extreme Masters eSports tournament will hold its first event in Australia, with the Qudos Bank Arena hosting the AUD$260,000 ($197,585) competition on May 6th and 7th.

Two teams — SK Gaming and Renegades — have already been directly invited to the tournament, with further invites and qualifier information to follow in the near future. Competitiors will be playing CS:GO.

Speaking about the tournament’s Australian debut, Michal Blicharz, VP Pro Gaming at ESL, said: “Having been to five different continents is a badge of honor for our historic competition. Australia has been an attractive market for us as part of our global expansion of the Intel Extreme Masters brand. We look forward to bringing Intel Extreme Masters to new global audiences and making history for esports in Australia.”

The official start of ticket sales will be on March 13th at 10am AEDT.
