Macau tightens border controls with HK

The Macau Health Bureau has further tightened border controls with Hong Kong in light of the spread of Covid-19 in that territory.

The main new requirement is that all those arriving in Macau from Hong Kong must present a nucleic acid test (NAT) certificate confirming that they have tested negative for Covid-19 within the past 72 hours.

Previously, a NAT certificate with a negative result within a week had been acceptable.

Even those who gain such a certificate before entry are required to undergo 14 days of quarantine and medical observation at one of the government’s designated quarantine hotels.

Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection reported 80 new confirmed Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number to 3,669.
