The Niki Chyau Fwu (Parkview) Group, one of the three finalists seeking to become the IR operator partner of Nagasaki Prefecture, has become the first operator to reveal most of its potential consortium.
Having unveiled the identity of three construction company partners—Hazama Ando Corporation, a major firm based in Tokyo; Okumura Corporation, based in Osaka; and Tanigawa, a local Nagasaki firm that operates across Kyushu—earlier this month, it has now gone on to reveal nine other partners with which it hopes to jointly develop an IR at the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Sasebo, Nagasaki.
The new partners, all of them local companies, are Ikeda Design, Clean Mat, Dual Key System, Fujioka, Nagasaki Security, Sakura, Kyushu Building Environment Center, Media Box, and Kashu Kogyo.
The firm released a statement that it is “bringing great opportunities to local SMEs as never been seen before. By training and hiring experts who require diverse expertise, [our IR] will have various effects, such as increasing the local population of young people.”
Ever since the Japan IR race began years ago, international operators have been loathe to provide any details about their consortium arrangements, keeping such information close to their vest as a trade secret. Niki Chyau Fwu’s public release of this information ahead of Nagasaki Prefecture’s decision on an operator partner is thus unique.
Niki Chyau Fwu was the latest entry into the Nagasaki race, only emerging this January. They said at that time, “We will propose to build a Super Smart Community that makes full use of cutting edge technology, centered on an IR in Sasebo city, and spreading to Omura Bay.”
The Nagasaki Prefectural Government is expected to make its final selection next month, with the Oshidori-Mohegan and Casinos Austria bids also in the race.
