SJM Resorts, S.A. announced a donation of MOP 10 million to support flood relief efforts in Zhengzhou of Henan, China, which has been devastated by severe flooding from the most powerful rainstorm on record.
The donation was made under coordination of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM Resorts, S.A., said, “Our hearts are with the people of Zhengzhou at this difficult time. On behalf of all members of the company, I would like to extend our sincerest wishes to all those affected by the flooding. We hope that the floods will recede quickly and the residents can resume their normal daily lives as soon as possible.”
For this edition of our magazine, we focus on Southeast Asia, with a particular look at the Philippines. The country’s casino industry has been among the hardest hit in Asia, with the integrated resorts in Manila’s Entertainment City having remained mostly closed to the general public since the beginning of the crisis last year.
The world is bouncing back, or at least coming to grips with the fact that going forward not much will be the same as before. Commendably, this industry quickly understood the need to adapt to a new normal, and that the days of targeting the low hanging fruit of the VIP sector are gone.
