MGM Resorts has become the official gaming partner of the NBA after signing a multi-deal partnership in New York.
As the exclusive gaming partner of the NBA, MGM will be able to use official league data and branding across its land-based and digital sports betting channels.
MGM will also be promoted across NBA’s digital channels such as NBA TV, NBA.com and social media outlets.
Union Gaming analysts said the endorsement from NBA “helps validate not only MGM but the sports betting and gaming industry overall.”
“Gaming companies are not as common household names as some other industries. The partnership with the NBA will improve commercialization, expand MGM’s reach to new consumers, and potentially improve valuation through awareness.”
According to the brokerage, basketball comprised about 30 percent of total sports wagers in Nevada over the past three years, making it the second most popular betting sport behind football, which comprised 35-40 percent.
