Hong Kong-listed Imperial Pacific International confirmed it would be interested in online gaming operations on Saipan should the government pass legislation.
The House Committee on Gaming recently approved a measure to establish the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands as a new base for online gaming operators in the region. The government is expected to vote on the bill in the near future.
“If approved, the group shall apply for an online gaming license and the industry would also be regulated by the Commonwealth Casino Commission,” IPI said in a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Commonwealth Casino Commission Executive Director Edward Guerrero told Asia Gaming Brief that “Depending on the final language of the bill, it would be feasible to open up this market to multiple operators.”
