Three men and five women have been arrested in Bangkok for allegedly running an illegal football gambling site, i99bet.
Last week, immigration police chief Pol Lt Gen Surachate Hakparn, said the group solicited people to gamble on football matches online, with the website’s server located in Cambodia.
The website turned over around THB 200 million (US$6.3 million) in six months.
The group was arrested with bank books, ATMs and other documents seized during the raid.
Surachate said the site had operated for two years, attracting many Thai gamblers.
