Authorities bust $43.1 mln VN-CM gambling ring

Nine people suspected to be involved in a Vietnamese-Cambodian gambling ring worth around VND1 trillion (US$43.1 million) have been apprehended by authorities, local media reports.

The nine, who remain unidentified, were arrested in Ho Chi Minh City last week.

Preliminary investigations have found that the gambling ring has links to Cambodian casinos, with a group of Vietnamese who went to work in Cambodian casinos in 2015 reportedly cooperated with Cambodian gambling ring leaders to set up a gambling website for Vietnamese gamblers.

The website provides gambling, betting services for soccer, basketball and tennis matches for its customers.
