Law firm hired to gather opinion on sports legalization

A law firm has reportedly been engaged by the Law Commission to gather opinion on whether sports could be legalized in India, local media reports.

The law firm will also be examining whether the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) could be brought under the Right to Information Act, after a recommendation made by the Justice Lodha Committee.

The recent engagement follows a long standing battle between the Lodha Committee and the BCCI.

Last year, the Lodha Committee in a report recommended a complete overhaul of Indian cricket, with many recommendations aimed against the established operating procedure of the BCCI.
